Solution Architect

The Enterprise group within Vizrt seeks a Solution Architect to work out of our New York office location. Vizrt is a world leader in real-time 3D graphics, studio automation, sports analysis and asset management solutions for the media and entertainment industry. The Enterprise group in our New York office delivers asset management solutions and integrations to customers across North and South America.

 What You'll Do:

  • As a Solution Architect in the Enterprise group, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of Vizrt solutions that meet customer business objectives. This will include:
  • Taking the technical lead in analyzing customer needs and requirements, and proposing cost-effective and efficient solutions
  • Communicating with customers and within the Vizrt organization, ensuring that the right solutions are available within requisite timeframes
  • Coordinating a team of system engineers in delivering project implementations
  • Documenting solutions at adequate depth for internal and external audiences consisting of engineers, architects, support and sales personnel
  • Estimating time requirements and viability of prospective projects
  • Keeping up to date with relevant technological state-of-the-art, and taking the initiative to bring new technology into the organization in a meaningful manner

What You Bring:

  • A STEM bachelor’s degree, preferably a Master's degree or better
  • 2-3 years experience in a Solution Architect role in either the media and entertainment industry, or a similar technical field such as networking or telecom as part of a Professional Services organization (we will consider you for the role if you've held equivalent responsibility without the specific SA title, and meet the other requirements)
  • At least 2-3 years of demonstrable hands-on software development experience with significant time spent writing code in at least two programming languages (Python, Perl, Java, C, C++ and Go are what we use)
  • At least 4 years of experience working with medium- to large-scale Linux infrastructure; we do not expect you to be a kernel developer, but you must be comfortable working on the command line, troubleshooting Linux installations, and diagnosing issues related to networking and storage
  • Experience working with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence or equivalents, and design tools such as Microsoft Visio and/or OmniGraffle
  • Familiarity and some experience with infrastructure automation and orchestration such as Ansible (our tool of choice), Puppet, Chef or similar
  • Familiarity and some experience with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS, but we also work with Azure)
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20-25% of the time

In addition, we would really like to speak with you if you have any of the following skills/experience:

  • Experience in a broadcast / media setting in an engineering or workflow management capacity
  • Experience with business process workflow engines such as jBPM, Activiti, Camunda BPM or similar
  • Significant (5 years) Perl programming experience
  • Significant production-level experience with broadcast quality transcoders (Telestream Vantage, Elemental or similar)
  • Significant (2 years) and demonstrable cloud and hybrid infrastructure deployment experience
  • Significant (1 year) experience with messaging infrastructure at scale (ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka or similar)
